Healthy or not

The not so special breaky at my desk at work this morning. Actually rather boring and with little nutrients that does me good. When waking up late and prioritizing getting mini-me to kindergarten in time, this is what you get. By now my BFF Mia is shaking her head to my excuse, knowing eating a healthy breakfast is not my strong side. I fribble a lot when it comes to breakfast, if not on weekends. I admit. But I do it because of two reasons:
1. I rather sleep an extra twenty minutes in the morning than preparing that special breakfast and eating it before I leave home.
2. I just don't have an appetite early in the morning. It takes me about an hour to get hungry.
(3. I'm lazy...)

But, I'm quite good at eating healthy every other meal besides breakfast. Avoiding sugar and eating no wheat or other products containing gluten, not because I have to but because I feel better when I don't eat it. :)

But enough of the breaky-talk, healthy or not, I need to get back to work now that my sandwishes found their way into my tummy!

Multitasking

This has been a really long day, and I'm sorry I haven't written you a blog entry until now.

What can I say, it's been a crazy day! A lot to do at work, then picking up mini-me, playing with her while preparing and making dinner and setting the table. Answering emails while eating and talking to mini-me about her day at kindergarten, cleaning up after dinner and then taking care of the laundry. Now I'm giving her a bath before putting her in bed and reading her a bedtime story.
After that I'll do a short yoga session and stretch out my back and then I'm gonna lay down in the sofa! The days my husband work nights, I feel like a single mum. And it gives me perspectives I think is really important to reflect on, especially on days not as crazy as today.

An update on the "light-situation" up here in the north. We've had a beautiful day, with sunshine from a clear blue sky today, and I'm happy to report that the sun set close to 17,30 tonight. That gives us about 30 minutes of extra light in the evening just by counting from last week! Isn't that fantastic! I guess you've realized by now, the importance of light returning to us here in Sweden. That is like the most important subject in conversations when having lunch! ;)

Good girl

Today I've really impressed myself! Power walking this morning and now just finishing off an hour of yoga!

Tired after the hour, and still not good enough at my poses, so I dare not show you just yet! But my flexibility is already getting much better!

Now I'm off to the shower! Hope you all did something to impress yourselves today, it's a good feeling! :)

I made it

I made it happen! And I'm almost as surprised as my husband! I ventured out in the freezing cold in early morning and power walked for about 45 minutes. Yeay! Good work, girl! Well thank you! ;)

On all of my walk I saw only three people (and two dogs) and I can understand why, due to the cold and the time. I would say one tend to rather enjoy sleeping in on syndays than going up early exercising, I know I used to before having mini-me. You might wonder about the one man without dog, did he follow my good example? Well, no, he was only out to collect his newspaper. ;)

Now I'm off for a nice breaky, meeting the day with a smile just because I made myself proud!

Making plans

So, yet another day is coming to an end. Midnight is closing in and I am the only one stil awake in our house. Even the cats are sleeping. I've been reading on my Kindle and was just starting to fall asleep, so I put it down and suddenly I was wide awake. Funny how that works!

I really should sleep because I plan to start my morning with a swift power walk (to warm up) and then continue on with an hour of yoga. We'll see how well I'll live up to this well thought out plan, but for sure it's gonna be harder to try to sneak out of it now that you've read about it. :)

Should, could, wont!

I've just spent a few minutes going through my Instagram and Facebook-accounts, getting up to speed with the latest! As we're having a glorious day here in Sweden today, with a clear blue sky without clouds, and sunshine in abundance, I'm not surprised that atleast half of all the pictures are of people enjoying the sun. Me? I should. I could. I wont! Well, ofcourse I love the sun, but it's bloody freezing outside! I've been outside though. Truly! The whole family's been outside, but mini-me and I went back inside rather hasty, enjoying the sun from within the house instead. Boring, I know! But by now you know I detest winter, or rather the cold and snow, though it's kind of the same thing. I'd rather stay inside in the warmth until the temperature rises well over zero and you could listen to the snow melting!

So we've enjoyed this afternoon by reading books, painting this and that, playing with her toys and then with the cats (who would rather that we didn't). Now, as the sun starts to set, she's watching Dora the Explorer on teve and I'm about to start dinner. Before eating though I'll do my yoga exercises, like a good girl! Being the exception to the rule - an old dog that's learning how to sit! ;)

Without shields

I guess we are no exception to the rule, when having young children there's no sleeping-in in the morning. Ever! Mini-me seems to follow that rule to perfection, waking me up just after seven this lovely saturday morning. Well actually, I have no clue of it's a lovely day or not, cause I haven't rolled up the shades yet still lingering in bed! But saturdays usually is, don't you think! :)

I made mini-me lay down next to me in bed, and after some giggles and cuddles she's now watching Dora the explorer on teve. Giving me just enough time to truly wake up, read the news on the phone and write you an entry on the blog. I normally don't show my face when not having put my make up on, but with a filter or two I feel just enough at ease to do it. So, there you have it, me with no face on. Without shields, if I'm to be honest. Vulnerable and unguarded. But somehow feeling a tiny bit stronger just by showing you. :)

Well, anyhow, it's time for breaky, as they say Down Under! Up here in the north we say "frukost", but I kind of like "breaky" better, sounds more fun, so breaky it is! ;)
Off and about!

Visiting Mall of Scandinavia

I've just returned home after a few hours at Mall of Scandinavia in Stockholm with my little family.

We left Uppsala early so that we would be at the mall just after opening, and thereby hopefully avoiding the largest crowds! And so we did, as you can see in the pictures.

I liked how they'd made use of the spaces between stores, some for relaxing others just arranged to look beautiful with plants or decorations.

And mini-mes' absolute favorite was the very large fountain where you could walk under bows of water!

But then again, she loved almost everything at the mall. Looking down on people walking underneath her was making her feel like a giant, wich she loved!

And these thingys was the best to try to climb on to, according to her. Others seemed satisfied by using them to sit on and rest their legs.

These...chairs, I guess, were there for you to relax and to load your phone if needed (free wi-fi zone).

There was a lot to look at, everywhere!

We ate our lunch at Zócalo, very tasty mexican food.

I had some Chicken soft tacos (gluten free ofcourse) with pineapple and mango salsa and guacamole. Yummy!

Mini-me had some nachos, to high on adventure to concentrate on eating.

Her favourite store, no surprises here, was the Disney store. But she didn't buy anything. Typical her actually! She gets all wind up and doesn't want anything because she haven't got time to rest at one specific thing/place long enough. Running around looking super-happy, and being satisfied at that!

We didn't go all in when being at the mall. I actually just bought some make up items, nothing else. Well, I bought a charm bracelet to mini-me from Tomas Sabo. I have one my self and she loves it, so I got her one aswell. And ofcourse I bought some chocolates. You see, among the 230 stores at Mall of Scandinavia, is a Lindt Chocolate store. I just couldn't pass it without buying some of my favourites! :)

Surprises

You know how they say you can't learn old dogs how to sit? Well I've actually surprised myself by doing my yoga sessions three days in a row - how about that! And without being grumpy or looking for excuses not to! Maybe it's my new pants from Stronger that motivates me? Who would find excuses NOT to wear these? Not me! I love them! You'll find your own to buy here!
I tried a new longer session today, and with both more strenght and more advanced yoga exercises. I was exhausted when done. My arms feeling like spaghetti and my legs shaking. It felt great! My intention was to rest tomorrow, but I think I'll only take it down a notch and do the stretches and flexibility exercises instead. Better to make it a habit then to find excuses not to do it at all!

Mini-me loves to yoga with me. But I think it's more the fact of being on the yoga mat next to me that she likes, rather than doing the actual yoga excercises! I love it though, to have her right beside me on her own mat giggling and talking about nothing and everything at the same time. :)

Tomorrow we'll take a drive to Stockholm and visit the brand new and biggest mall in Sweden (I think), Mall of Scandinavia. I love shopping, as do my husband and daughter, so I think we'll have a blast! I'll take some pictures and show you when I get back.

But now, as usual, I have a date with my beloved Kindle before going to bed!

Cut, cut, cut

Now we're back home again, mini-me and I. We cut off about 10 cm of her hair, and she had a good time even though being worried about cutting to much hair off. She "wants just as long hair as Rapunzel"! I told her that would take years and years and years, but she is stubborn (as her mom) when having a goal in sight (not applicable on her moms private life). But when seated in the chair infront of the mirror she was so fascinated of all the things in the barbershop, so the cut went without argument. And she loved her hair when done. No regrets or disappointed tears so far anyway!
She started of playing games on the iPad while I got new colour in my hair.
And then total focus on sitting absolutely still. Super-cute!
As I've promised her and her father not to publish pictures of her in the blog (with her face showing), you'll have to imagine the result after the cut. :)
And as my husband usually doesn't even notice that I've been to the hairdresser, I guess the change is so minimal you wont even see it. But I feel content and younger looking (with no more visual grey hairs)! ;)

Now lunch and then playing games with mini-me! The sun is shining and so are you! :)

Slow start

Good morning friends,
I'm waiting for my family to wake up and join me for breakfast. Mini-me rarely sleeps this late (it's after eight in the morning), so I've goten atleast an hour all to my self. But, I think I have to wake her soon as we're off to the hairdresser in little over an hour. She's not overly fond of being woken up when sleeping in, so I'll have to think of a way to do it without getting her cranky! It might be a battle already lost, but I'll try my best! ;)
I hope you all have a splendid day! I'm planing on having one!

With the ones I love

This week all the schools are closed for a sort of spring break, here in Uppsala. My husband thought mini-me should have time off aswell although not in school yet, so he's been home all week, taking some time of from work to be with her. And after today I'm joining them! Looking forward to a few days of work and spending some quality time with my loved ones!

First thing on the agenda for our first day off togheter is me taking mini-me to the hairdresser tomorrow morning! Me for some new colour and her for a haircut. We're both looking forward to this, and it's well needed for my part! It'll be a really fun girly-girl time for both mother and daughter! And well deserved I might ad!
I thought I would introduce my husband to you all. I know I mention him often, but I seldom display photos of him. The reason being that he's actually not very fond of being exposed on my blog, espacially not in pictures as he likes his privacy! But, he's given me permission to publish this one. So here he is; my best friend, confidant and love! My safety, my happy-pill, my rock and my anchor! And sometimes, he just drives me crazy (and the other way around)! ;)

The moon meeting the sun

What an amazing car ride I had to work, watching the moon greet the sun while setting and creating marvelous colours in the sky!

The moon on it's way behind the horizon!

And the sun climbing up over it!

How the world fills you with joy and happiness just by doing it's thing! I'm mesmerized!!!

Refusing to wake

Good morning dear readers,
I've just woken up and are fighting to staying awake. Or rather my mind is quite clear on that fact, knowing the time and tasks to be done at work shortly. But my body is fighting me. Yearning me to go back to bed, and my left leg has fallen asleep (do you say that in english aswell? When your feet or hand or what ever goes numb.)!

I've gotten myself up and into the bathroom (the smaller of the two we have, further away from the bedrooms so I don't wake my little family), and I keep on telling my body to stop resisting me! And I think it's working, though slowly, very slowly. Maybe this is yet another sign of me getting old?

How funny to realize in this tired moment (feeling older than usual) that this blog entry is the one crossing over from 999 to 1000 entries. A lot of thoughts displayed online from me by now then! It only took me a few years.

Energized

What a great day I've had! A successful day at work, though stacked with meetings, and then straight home to meet up with the rest of my little family and preparing for the real estate agent. I've been praised by both real estate agents about the interior designs in the house, so I feel really proud today. I love my home and the choices I've made regarding the designs, but to hear from others that they truly like what I've done with the interior is really flattering! Me so happy! :)

As yesterday the meeting went really well and we got a really good tender offer from her. So, know we just need to choose between the offers given to us. I'll tell you more about that and the process following later on in the blog.

We had a really beautiful sunset this evening, and I tried to capture it for you, but looking at it now I see I didn't quite succeed! Sorry about that! I am many things, but a good photograph is not one of them as you know by now! The sky was all pink and mini-me loved it (she's crazy in love with both the colour purple and pink)!

I finished of the evening with a yoga session, so now I rest in the sofa feeling really content with my day and my efforts! And opposite yesterday, I feel energized and alert!

And to end of the day in one of the best ways possible, I'll know date my Kindle! ;)

A good night sleep

I fell asleep early yesterday. Really early. That means I'd slept over eight hour when waking up before the alarm this morning. So I guess my body and mind really needed that!

I fear that today will resemble yesterday a bit to much, both at work and home with yet another real estate agent coming over, but I hope the long sleep will keep me energized until going to bed later on tonight. I'd rather not feel as tired as yesterday 'cause I really need to get things done and to do my yoga excercises! My back is giving my a hard time since a few days back!

Now though, I need to work! :)

Long day

Today we had a visitor coming over soon after I got home from work. A visitor that had me going wild on putting everything at its right place (and hiding everything else) and cleaning like a maniac. And who might this special visitor be, that made me act all crazy? The King? The Queen? A superstar? Chris Hemsworth (oh my, I wish!!!)? Nope! Just a real estate agent we've asked for a valuation of our house as we're thinking of selling the house and moving into the city. We had one real estate agent over today and another tomorrow. And maybe a third one later in the week. So you see, I wanted our house to look impeccable! And it did! We finished just in time! The real estate agent loved it and will send us a tender offer in the morning.

This act made the moving process much more real though, and a whole lot more scary. Making me doubt our decision on starting this process. Well, well. We haven't decided anything yet, not really. We'll see after this week if we're going through with the sale or not.

So, I'm super-tired right now. I think I'll just lay here on the sofa the rest of the evening! Doing nothing at all! Well, maybe read a couple of hours, but nothing more than that!

Early bird

Good morning dear readers,
I've been up since dawn (almost) and just finished of eating my breakfast at my desk at work. Looking forward to a day stacked with meetings and decisions to be made. And I'm ready for it, bring it on!

But before I go, I need to show you a picture that a friend posted on Instagram. I don't know who it belongs to, so I may be wrong posting it on the blog, but it's just so funny I feel I have to! It surely gave me the best start of the day, laughing out loud!

Letting people in

So, I thought I would give you an insight in yet another private part of me, my home. I truly believe that your home is a reflection of you, so here we go, a chance for you to get to know me even more. :)
I have a thing for photowalls. And I like to give them a theme. This wall, in the kitchen is all about traveling, whether being a journey within or to a physical one to a specific destination.
In the livingroom the pictures are inspired by my writing and to the mythical parts of my ideas.
And my office is still not finished, but it's going to get the feeling of industry, hard, raw and decorticated.
And I love cushions, so our sofas are filled with them!

Just another view to let you see the high ceiling in the livingroom.

And ofcourse we have a teve, but I rarely spend time infront of it these days. Reading and writing takes up all my free time when mini-me's asleep.

The masterbedroom also has a photowall, with the theme of being able to fly. :)

I love details, like this gorgeous little seal. He has his place in one of the windows in the livingroom, where he lay watching me when seated in the sofa. Supercute!

And these little bugs! I like! I'm going to put them up on the wall, but I'm not sure where yet.

So, now you've seen parts of my home. Did it tell you something new about me, or confirm what you already knew? :)

Have a beautiful sunday!

Activating mini-me

I'm sitting watching mini-me at her tennis lesson that she have once a week. She really loves it, and it's such a joy watching her having fun! Happy daughter - happy mum!
I was more of a soccer-girl growing up, and loving horses of course! But I'm sure I would have loved tennis if I had tried it. But nothings too late, so maybe I should take tennis lessons as well! :)

New arrivals

Today mini-me and I have been picking up packages with stuff I ordered online. Like my new Raku doll from Artilleriet, replacing the one our cats accidently (?) had smashing in to a thousand pieces when falling to the floor. This time I've done my best to secure the Raku doll, putting a glas-top over it! :)
I love it! My husband finds it scary though and are not overly pleased to see the old one replaced! Hmm...maybe I shouldn't have blamed the cats after all? ;)
I like to move things around until finding the right place for them, and I feel I need to rearrange the hand and/or the acorn in this constellation. Not quite happy yet with the arrangements.
In one of the other packages was this wonderfull light box. Can you read the text at the bottom? Not sure of it's placing either, but for now it'll join our little Christmas tree (wich I am planning to plant in the garden this spring, to cold right now though) and golden candleholders.

Tomorrow, when having better light, I'll take a few more pictures of my home and show you. And by then I'm sure some of the items shown to you today will have found new places. That's how I work! :)

Now I have to make dinner for my hungry family, salmon with lime and garlic cream sauce, served with vegetables and steamed rice.
